WM Capture is a video capture program that gives you the ability to record what's happening on your computer screen. You can use it to record the programs you're using, video game action or even streaming video. While all this is useful, the program itself falls down on a number of levels. It lands at the bottom of our lineup due to its complete lack of editing tools and poor quality output.
The software has a simple interface and workflow. However, during our testing phase, it took more than a few attempts to use the software correctly. We also experienced an unacceptable level of the software crashing while launching and recording – which required us to repeat work to get the footage we needed.
Once you figure out how the program works, you can use it to record what's happening on your computer screen. The program even has Background Mode that's useful for recording video games and streaming video. However, once it's been recorded, what you see is what you get.

This program has no tools whatsoever for editing or enhancing your footage after it's been captured. If you want to edit what you've recorded, you'll have to invest in a video editing program. The best video capture software includes at least a basic set of video-editing tools. Not WM Capture.
During our testing phase, we created identical video projects using each of the video capture programs on our lineup. Our video experts compared the recordings against each other and the original source material. They found that the video created by WM Capture is among the worst of the products we reviewed. Hesitation in the video, poor-quality audio and general pixelation, plus artifact and distortion distract heavily from the viewing experience. It should also be noted that this program crashed several times – mostly while a recording was occurring, requiring us to relaunch the program and restart our recording. This kind of instability is simply unacceptable for software of any kind.
Outside its most basic function, recording your computer's desktop, WM Capture doesn't do much. And what it does, it doesn't do very well. The interface is confusing and often doesn't work. The program crashes regularly and produces sub-par quality videos.
